About the Project
It’s the 21st century.
Time means money, stories are stale and the South African film industry is riddled with Apartheid flicks and poo jokes.
Enter screen right: South Africa’s Official World Record Attempt at The Fastest Film Ever Made from Script to Screen.
On May 1st 2013, a team of young, homegrown industry professionals are meeting to begin the scripting of a brand new South African
feature film. Eleven days later, this film will premier at the Bioscope in Maboneng and the Official World Record will belong in
The antagonist: Sivappu Mazhai. A musical/action flick made in Kolkata, India with a crew of over a thousand. The two hour-three minute long feature was made in a
world record time of eleven days, twenty-three hours and forty five minutes, from script to screening. According to Wikipedia
“The Kollywood Film industry and the artists who worked on this film, are very satisfied with the results and very proud of this
Screw that! We’re going to smash them. NEW SA! NEW SA! NEW SA!
The protagonist: Untitled. Because we’re not allowed to have a title yet. We also don’t have a concept, we don’t have characters, story-arcs or a page of dialogue, because that’s not allowed either. We don’t have a thousand crew members. We don’t even have catering (hint, hint). But what we do have is gear and lights from Nates Audio Visual, generous sponsorship from Sony, who are hooking us up with the new F55 package and lenses, the best crew no money can buy and commitment from some of the biggest names in stage and screen.
With all of this at our disposal, our mission is to not only break the world record, but also to make an awesome film. Come May 11th, we are going to present a minimum of 75-minutes of gripping, blockbuster-ness… Also there might be poo jokes.
So basically, on May 1st, shit is getting real and we want you to follow us on our website, on Facebook and on Twitter.
If we’re shooting in a public location, come to set and you’ll almost definitely be an extra.
Give us your love, your ideas and see us battle through eleven days of little to no sleep, split-second creative decision making and
no catering (hint, hint).
The more you love us online, the more chance you’ll get to see our film at your nearest cinema.
Do it for your country.

LocaLala Productions was started in 2006 and was born out of the need of its founding members to create stories that were relevant to their combined experiences as young South Africans. It was the need to communicate unique and entertaining stories with integrity and a sharp eye for quality and detail that inspired the founding members to form the company. We felt that we could add value to the current South African landscape of television and film.
We also understand the potential capability of television to entertain, communicate positive values and change society. Our scripts are largely character driven and based on reality. Our stories are proudly South African and focus on the struggles and ultimate triumph of the human spirit. The company was the driving force behind the hit SABC 1 series “Izoso Connection”.
Ghost Sheep Productions specialises in high concept Television with a strong focus in comedy.
To date they have produced award winning comedy shows from script to screen.
Ghost Sheep prides itself on quality of entertainment that targets all the different facets of our South African and International markets. Their attention to detail and understanding of their markets makes Ghost Sheep Productions a production company to be reckoned with.
With more than 5 television productions and 1 film under their belt, this young company is full of energy and the greatest need to produce internationally competitive entertainment in an environment that is useD to settling for the mediocre. With shows like City Ses’la (4 seasons, 13 awards) and Sketch You Later to its credit, this is testament to the company’s unwavering need to produce quality, no matter what it takes.

Meren Reddy began his acting career at the age of 7.
He didn’t quite know back then what “Dee Dee Denim Silver’s Drama Classes” would amount to,
but his lisp and chronic introverted nature needed a cure. Between then and now, Meren attended the National School of the Arts, where Drama counted as
2 of his official subjects, gaining his Full colours twice during his 5 year stay there. After that, it was off to Film School (AFDA – JOHANNESBURG),
where he got his Honours Degree in Live Performance majoring in Physical Performance, Writing for stage, Acting for screen, Producing, and Acting for
Stage. He holds the record for winning the AFDA award for Best Physical Performer 3 years in a row (2001,2002,2003).
Out in the real world, Meren went on to start BLACK BRAIN PICTURES, a Film and Television Production company, which he co-owned with 4 other partners.
The company holds 13 SAFTA AWARDS, and Meren singularly holds 5. 4 for Best Writing in a Comedy Series (2006,2007,2009,2011) and 1 for Best Actor in a
